The crash took place in Stamford around 12:25 a.m., Thursday, June 1, on I-95 northbound in the area of Exit 8.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2017 Nissan Rouge driven by Massachusetts resident Emmanuel Pierre, age 26, of Worcester left its lane of travel for an unknown reason and struck the metal beam guard rail in the right shoulder approximately a quarter of a mile north of Exit 8, state police said.

The SUV then crossed all three lanes of travel and struck the concrete barrier in the median and came to an uncontrolled final rest blocking the center and right lanes.

Pierre was transported to Stamford Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad responded to the scene to assist with scene processing.

This case remains actively under investigation. Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Trooper Anthony Jacabacci via e-mail at Anthony.Jacabacci@ct.gov.
